I got lazy with the tail on this one…I still want to figure out one and I have a pattern for the rest of the body and wings.
BODY
Use a stitch marker, moving it to each row as you go.
Rd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first chain (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each st (12)
Rd 3: [1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] repeat 6 times (18)
Rd 4: [1 sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st] repeat 6 times (24)
Rd 5-8: sc in each stitch (24)
Rd 9: [sc in next st, sc in next st, decrease third st] repeat 6 times (18)
Rd 10: [sc in next 3 st, decrease next st] repeat 3 times, sc in next 2 st (14)
Rd 11-14: sc in each st (14)
Rd 15: [2 sc in next st] repeat 8 times, sc in next 6 st (24)
Stuff head firmly and place safety or other type eyes where desired. The increase stitches in Rd 15 are the start of the bird’s body, so the eyes should go on the opposite side of them.
Rd 16: [2 sc in st, 1 sc in next st] repeat 6 times, sc in remaining 12 st (30)
Rd 17: [1 sc in st, 2 sc in next st] repeat 6 times, sc in remaining 18 st (36)
Rd 18-21: Sc in each st (36)
Rd 22: [sc in first 4 st, decrease in next st] repeat 6 times (30)
Rd 23: sc in each st (30)
Rd 24: [sc in 3 st, decrease in next st] repeat 6 times (24)
Stuff bird some more, making sure neck is firm.
Rd 25: [sc in 2 st, decrease in st] repeat 6 times (18)
Rd 26: [sc in 1 st, decrease next st] repeat 6 times (12)
Rd 27: decrease in every st until closed, keep tail outside the head and trim to 1/2 inch, fraying ends.
WINGS
I used two strands of yarn for the wings–black and white. You may want to switch to a bigger hook if you choose to do this, too.
make 2
ch 7, do not join into a ring.
Rd 1: sc in each of 5 st, 3 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 7 st. Bind off, there should be a tails at each end of each wing. Weave in the ends and trim.

Rd 2: Dc 2 times into each of the 8 st, join with sl st (16 dc)
